I’m a runner by nature, but more and more my colleagues and I have been stopping to take 15 minute walk breaks during the day. We find this inspires us to break up the computer/desk monotony but also helps us problem solve more creatively and see things from fresh perspectives.
It was nice to come across this post from WQED Pittsburgh about the many health benefits from walking, including memory, mood, and improvement in physical health. Even 30 minutes of walking per day can reduce symptoms of depression by 36%. What more motivation do we need to get up from our desks?
